I tried the 1st practice test of Whizlab yest. However, many question used API not covered in K&B book.. That has left me a little puzzled can I expect qs using methods and classes not discussed in K&B. e.g. one of the qs used methods of Pattern, Matcher classes not touched in the book, It also used the MatchResult interface and it *required* the knowledge of the methods and the interface API to find the answer .. People who have given the test can please enlighten if they saw qs which required knowledge of topics/API not covered in the book?

Hi Bijendra,

I have gone through that chapter. As I said the question I came across used methods of the Pattern/Matcher class which weren't even mentioned in the book.(1-2 were metioned in the On the job section) The book only touches on Pattern.compile(), Pattern.matcher(), Matcher.start(),Matcher.group()and Matcher.find() methods of the the 2 classes. Though it mentions a few more methods in "On the job" section those arent explained and I have the impression that these arent covered in the exam? Right?

Hey Amit,

I think a lot of the mock exams err on the side of covering too much, rather than risk covering too little. Our book has been out for 16 months now and I know of no topics that we've left out.

hth,

Bert
