Hi,
What does JINI stand for?
Is there any device in the market which uses jini?
Can Jini be used by non-devices (e.g. software)

Jini, just like Java, doesn't "stand for" anything. It's a name designed to start with 'J' to emphasise it's Java connections and to be short and easy to say and spell. It is also another name for "genie" or "djinn" or "jinn" - a spirit-being from middle-eastern folklore prone to granting wishes and living in lamps. Hence the logo.

...some kid that Jini stands for "Jini Is Not Initials", but, as already noted, it doesn't stand for anything.

Absolutely! In fact, that's currently the most common way it's being used now (until Java becomes widespread on small devices).
