hello. this is a bit of a longshot. I think I'd be a good AI designer.
I'm not an experienced programmer:
My degree was in philosophy and psychology, Oxford University, England.
I'm currently doing a masters in philosophy of cognitive science.
This involves learning some programming. I'm currently at the stage where I can read and understand code, - but still find it difficult to write it from scratch.
I think I understand OOP and program design fairly well.
I think I understand thinking fairly well.
I've got quite a lot of ideas about how to create sophisticated self-monitoring programs, - and programs that recompile on the fly.
I've also got some original ideas regarding decoding english into a useful form for a program to do further work from (e.g. script generation, modelling the situation, running a predictive simulation from a linguistic description. )
I'm not yet a good enough programmer to be able to implement them. I'm interested in finding a job where I can use my skills and learn how to program better, or in collaboration with a skilled programmer, to implement for example, an AI bot, - perhaps a military commander who can be talked to (on military subjects) in English, can reply in English, can generate useful strategies, can modify them, and thinks in a quasi-human way, - e.g. by thinking about the beliefs and intentions of its opponents.
Such an AI would probably sell well, I imagine, as in general, strategy games against computer AI's are fairly boring, as the compute doesn't think like a human. It would also probably be fairly handy for a lot of people to have such an AI bot if for example there were a multiplayer strategy game that never stopped, - and you wished to be able to leave a sophisticated minder in charge of the situation when you couldn't be there.
