The ranch has a forum dedicated to SCJP. You can start there :
https://coderanch.com/forums/f-24/java-programmer-SCJP
and to the FAQ :
http://faq.javaranch.com/view?ScjpFaq
where you'll find book recommendations and plenty of information.

Hi,
You can prepare
1. Programmer's Guide to Java Certification, A: A Comprehensive Primer, Second Edition
By Khalid A. Mughal, Rolf W. Rasmussen
2. and Kathy Sierra book

and you practice mock exams well.

let me put it this way
"1. Programmer's Guide to Java Certification, A: A Comprehensive Primer, Second Edition
By Khalid A. Mughal, Rolf W. Rasmussen"
"2. i)Head first Java and ii)certification book by Kathy Sierra"

it all depends on your choice....
choose 1 if you like watching critics films ... SATYA(RAM GOPAL VERMA)...Dark and Real
choose 2 if you like cool Yash Chopra films... Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge ...c-o-o-l & enjoyable.

any way both will serve the purpose at the end....

the choice is left to you
