Hi,

Are the object clone() method and Clonable details a part of SCJP 5.0 too, I think they were included in 1.4 but not sure if they are still to be studied for 5.0.

Please let me know.

thanks,
Megha

Hi Megha,

I have never found anybody asking about, a question containing clone() method
or Clonable interface was asked in the exam.

As per I know, one may encounter a question with Clonable interface but it
would not be testing your knowledge about Clonable interface. It may be like

class A implements Serializable {}
class B extends A implements Clonable {}

A a1 = new A();
B b1 = new B();

And further various mixture of casting to test your knowledge what casting
may incur runtime exception. "You may have encountered this sort of
questions in mock exams"

So therefore I don't think exam will be asking any question where you must
know Clonable detail. There is no sign of clone() or Clonable interface
description in K&B book. You should rely on K&B.
