Hello

I am beginer to Java, changing my carrier to SW/Development. Its been two months since I started preparing for SCJP -055 . Iam using Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates SCJP exam guide and Wizlabs kit. After spending good amount of time every day, still Iam not ready to take the exam.

Can any body give some idea to prepare well for the exam.?

Thanks
Lakshmi

Keep coding, compiling and fixing. There is no other way.

Hi there,
If you have gone through Kathi S & Bates and spent time on Whiz Labs, i think you are ready to write the exam. This actually depend on how much you want to score. If your aim is to get score bt 70-75 than your preparation is good enough to for the exam. But if your aim is high( as it shud be) you shud read more books on SCJP 5 and try and write programs on your own. I can suggest you one more good book for SCJP 5 by Paul Sanghera. Have a nice time. Practice n Practice more. Rajeev Gaur

Welcome to JavaRanch!

We have a forum specifically for SCJP topics. I'm moving this to be continued there.

Dear lakshmi,

2 things are important,

1. be in constant touch with the concepts and key points.
2. don't get afraid of low scores in mocks

Enjoy the time

regards,
Gitesh
