SCJP 1.5: Planning -- want suggestion from experts :)

Hi all,
i am new to this community and i am planning to take up the SCJP 1.5 by august 31. i will be taking exam on august 31. I have started studying from yesterday. i,e 25th june.
Plan: i am planning to complete the book once by july 20th. Again, revision by August 5th, take a mock test on 6th, and again one week of revision and take second mock test on 15th. And from 16th to 25th, giving numerous mock tests along with further revisions .... guys what do you say on this ... i want your valuable feedbacks .... please let me know if there are ny better wayto prepare ..... dont blame me sa this post is pretty lengthy ....

Hi Vinay,

I think you are quite strict with your schedule, which is a good thing accompanied with discipline. On the other hand however, may I suggest that you do not put too much pressure on yourself on the process of completing the studies for the exam. SCJP study provides an excellent avenue for learning, you will learn many things as you go your way. Another thing is, for me, tracking the SCJP dream is more of fun and as I've said learning, than just achieving a certificate. Enjoy, breathe, and meet the rest of the guys here. hmmmm...... what i personally feel is that i have started late on studying..... so i dont want to take any chance in the exam .... but you are correct ..... the primary thing why i am taking this exam is to get a hold on java .... it will help in this right ???

If your schedule is good depends on your ambitions. AS you want a high score or just pass and your experience as a JAVA-programmer.

Just follow the forums and do a lot of practice and you will be fine.

This forum is very good and helped me for preparing.

hey im new to this comunity.

I justwant experts suggestion on how to prepare for SCJP 1.5
I have completed reading K& B book.
I have taken few wizlab mock tests but everytime i get 37 o 32 or 38 correct out of 72.

Now i am confused how to prepare for 1.5

suhem, I've been the same way.

I failed the first and third Whizlabs sample exams, passed the second one.

As was explained to me by my co-workers, the key is to understand why you got a question wrong. Write the code, compile it, see what it does or doesn't do. That has helped me.

I rewrote the first sample exam last night and passed it. I'll rewrite the third one later today and then take the final Whizlab exam on Thursday.

I've been studying for the SCJP 5.0 for the last 3 weeks and have failed the test once by one question (last Friday).

Three weeks might not sound like a lot of time but it is all I have done over this time period and have over 120 study hours under my belt. My suggestions are:

Read the K&B book completely.
Write mini-programs for every concept whether you feel you understand it or not while using the book as a guide.
Once a week or so read all of the Two Minute Drills. I remember something new each time I go through them.
Be sure to read the Exam Watch sections. They do help.
Ask Questions. Since you're here on the forums it looks like you have this one covered.
Relax. I know I personally have learned a lot more while reading/practicing to learn, rather than having to pass a test.

Once again these are my suggestions and I have not passed the exam, yet (although I will be passing it on July 6th!). Best of luck to you!

I have definitely got some confidance now .
What i was not doing, is practicing small small programes.
