Hello Ranchers,
I have logged in to Javaranch today only.. But I used to read posts everyday..
I gave SCJP 5.0 yesterday.. And Failed.. 52%

Bit Disappointed but I will give again after another preparation..
Would one more month's prep be good enough..
As I have a goal to get 90%+..
So can you please suggest something for me..

I think I flunked in the Drag n Drop questions an topics :: Generics, Collections, access modifiers(questions on "volatile" were there that I didnt study), concurrency, scoping, initializing...

So please reply soon....
I will start off with the preparation from next week..
Hopefully, I will get my dream score this time..

Thank you,
Komal..

Hi,

What book did you read ? K&B ?

Did you solve alot of mock exams ?

Did you try writing sample programs ?

Anyways, here are some mocks exam links:

JavaRanch mock exams
JavaBeat mock exams
John's mock exam

And make sure you write sample source codes.

I'm sure that you will pass next time.

Bet of luck ...

Don't worry buddie!!!
Try for the next time with more preparation!!
Try to read K&B and mughal 5-6 times!!! do practice the mock questions.
try to analyze the problems here instead of simply read them!!!
All the best!!!

Hi Komal,

Generics, Threads and Collection are favorite topics of the SCJP 5.0 exam
creators. I hope you would have SCJP Study Guide By "Kathy Siera & Bert
Bates", already. There is not escape point for preparation. Don't leave any
topic untouched this time. Attend a lot of mock exams, find out your weak
areas. I wish, success will kiss your feet.

Thanks,

Hi

Komal

I don't know which book you read before. But read K&B book .If you read that book reread that book remember every point in that book.Do practice small programs.Practice mocks in that book and do write mocks which are available in the net.If you have any doubts post here.So ranchers are there .You will get solution.

And one more thing, now you know the pattern ,difficulty level of the exam.So for the next time to face the exam be prepare well. And spend more time in javaranch .SO WILL DEFINETLY PASS IN THE NEXT ATTEMPT.

Thanks

Anil Kumar

Hi Ranchers,

Thanks for your replies..

Sorry ... I fogot to mention few details...
I read K&B 3 times..
followed the instructions religiously..
solved the self-tests..
gave the mock that comes with the CD.. got 68% there..

but I think I underestimated generics n collections..

Also, I need to write more sample codes..

Do reply...
Thanks,
Komal
