Hi,
I have registered with NIIT and paid the fees for SCJP 1.5. They gave only
a receipt for money and a form (which they asked me to fill)signed on that. Is that all that consists of a voucher? Or i have demand something more from them ?

Thanks,
Sweta

no they should give you proper voucher
a voucher comes from sun on which allowed examinations and expiry date is mentioned
you should ask them for voucher

basically they are doing like this just to ensure that you will go for exam from NIIT only

Yes they do that, they did the same to me at NIIT Adyar chennai, I had to claim that I need the voucher now itself as I may write the exam elsewhere incase if I leave the city.

I believe there are two reasons for why they do this,

First, as prafulla said the day you reach NIIT and produce the receipt, they issue you the voucher(which is just a hall-ticket like) and you write the exam then and THERE.

Second, when I claimed fo the voucher I was told to note down the unique serial number on the voucher and keep safe both the voucher and the number. If I lose the voucher I can still be permitted to write the exam by producing the serial number, and there is other side of it, if the serial number if leaked out there are chances anybody can write the exam on my name (may be he can say "i bought the voucher but I lost it, only thing I have is the serial number, please permit"). I dont know how far this is true but they do emphasize on this.

The same incident happened to me also. I registered for the exam in Adyar NIIT chennai. I asked for the voucher, but they provided me only the receipt. They didnt even mention the date and the type of certification/version. and they said the receipt is valid for 1yr and I can take any type of certificaion/version.

What shd i do now? Im more confused now Help me guyz.

If you have any doubts about exam vouchers, you should contact Sun Training - India.

(Note: This is in our SCJP FAQ: Where can I find information about SCJP testing outside the U.S.?).

And in my case it happened far far away from NIIT Adyar, in Pune NIIT. They want us to take the exam in their own centre, that's the reason.

in my case too, the attendants never seem to care what exam serial no i wrote
on the form. Just gave that and said, you can come any time and take the exam.

Thanks Marc, btw sorry to continue the post, i believe this status of what's happening around must be known to all.

It is not as that big issue. NIIT does provide you a receipt(a proof,an evidence that the payment is made by you and that it is made on so and so date). and when they say it is valid for one year, it is just to map the situation as if they gave you voucher on the same date. To us, the exam-writers, it doesn't matter whether it is voucher or receipt, atleast until the time we write the exam . All we have to do is convert the receipt into voucher AT THE TIME WE WRITE THE EXAM.

Everything would be ok if you write the exam in the same center, you go there produce the valid receipt, they produce the voucher and its over. However if you chose to write elsewhere, NIIT can not and will not stop you. You say them frank and open "I wish to write exam elsewhere for my comfort" and they shall definitely accept the receipt and hand-over the voucher to you.

NIIT is not denying vouchers, it is only exploring the possibility to reach a point where both exam-writers and NIIT can be of benefit, else is there any other center where you get such low discounts?? To my knowledge there isn't any, atleast in chennai.
