Java job seekers: For you to succeed in your job search develop new and clever networking techniques, by which you may have access to positions. Much of this is presently underground, but many recruiters and a growing number of businesses are turning to non-sponsorship, so have no fear.
For beginners(entry level/junior: college grads), there are several websites through which you will find great assistance.
But most important, gain the skills, become Certfied!!! Develop
portfolios.
For somewhat experienced developers: The one area you will have a clear advantage is to pursue a MBA following your BA/BS and a few years in the industry. Many mid-upper level managers are seeking individuals and encourage citizens to pursue this avenue.
I know many friends who did just this and now are safely the managers of the same HI-B people they were in competition with
a few years back )
Remember your assets: you are a citizen, you possess far better communication skills, and have the homegrown savvy. Use all this to your advantage!!
So: 1) Network
2) Learn!
3) Become certified!!
4) Take advantage of companies that do NOT provide
sponsorship: many co.'s offer excellent training
programs.
5) Pursue additional goals: MBA! management; don't remain
simply a developer for life; otherwise have a short and
long term plan
