Hi Friends,

I cleared SCJP Exam with good score . Thanks to Bartenders and Ranch Hands for addressing my concerns so quick. Thanks to Kathy and Bates for their excellent book. I'm new to java and now I feel Java very interesting and want to persue my career in Java. SCJP is very good start.

Now I want to know what is the next step. Beans ? J2EE ? Servlets ? Struts ? Though these terminologies does not make sence to me.

Regards,
Shubha Kirani

Hi,

What are you into ? Are you into web. ? Are you into Swing ?

If you are into web., then go for SCWCD, or if you are into Swing, then go for SCJD.

Best of luck ...

You can find a lot of info on Sun's java training and certifications here on Sun's website.

Have a look at this page, it has a picture that shows the different Java certifications in relation to eachother and it's a good overview of the different paths you can take after SCJP.

There are basically three paths:
  • Java SE - SCJD; this is about Swing, desktop applications, client-server applications
  • Java EE - SCWCD, SCBCD, SCDJWS; this is about web applications, servlets and JSPs (SCWCD), EJBs (SCBCD) and web services (SCDJWS)
  • Java ME - SCMAD; this is about Java applications for mobile devices such as phones
