Hi,
Well, it definitely is tough, I have been preparing for the 1.5 exam for a few weeks now and it definitely is a lot different on the tougher side than 1.4

The changes introduced in 1.5 are the ones that create the problem all the time, when I take mock ones. All this has delayed my plans to take the exam, but still, it was too good to have studied 1.5 new features, as I was not working on JDK 1.5 and am glad I chose 1.5 over 1.4. K&B book is very good for it.

I just cleared mine today and I would definitely suggest you to go for 1.5, it might take more time, but when you are out of it, you would be a better person :-)

Go for 1.5
But more important is to know difference b/w the 1.4 and 1.5.
What are the new features in 1.5 (like generics , covariant return types , enums , etc)
