I work at TechMahindra, an IT Company. I was wondering how much time should I dedicate to prepare for SCJP per day and eventually when should i appear for the Exam.
My knowledge to Core Java is pretty OK and have also done a project on Java for my Graduation final year.
I am about to buy the K&B book. Also I used to study Java from Java-A Complete Reference Before.

Please, Advice me as I got to start this real soon.

Hi Anup,
It all depends on individual and also it depends on how much time you can dedicate for the exam.Start preparing for the exam now.Best book is K&B. If you have any doubts you can post it here. All the best for your prepartion.

Hey thanks, Nik

A doubt, knowing the java concepts very well, should i start with the K&B right away???

Also, I am deciding to prepare for the exam first and then when i feel confident i go and buy the voucher...is this the right approach??..I mean is there a chance that the Exam objectives may change by then or an upgrade or some sort of change that may cause my preparation to be altered in any way?

HI Anup,
The latest version of SCJP exam is 1.5.For 1.6 version there is no exam still so go ahead and prepare for the 1.5 exam. K&B covers all the objectives of the exam so start with K&B and since you know the concepts it will be easy for you but prepare the topics very well the exam will be tough.Prepare for the exam and when you feel confident to write the exam go and buy the voucher and register for the exam.If you have any doubts regarding any topics you can post it here. All the best for your preparation
.

Regards,
Nik
