Hi All,

Is it required to go through the complete "Java Code conventions" document in java.sun.com website for the SCJP 5 Exam?

Thanks,
Adithi

i don't recall that code conventions should be taken into account for SCJP. I think it is related to SCJD.

If I am not wrong the root of this question lies in the objective 1.4

Develop code that declares both static and non-static methods, andif appropriate use method names that adhere to the JavaBeans naming standards. Also develop code that declares and uses a variable-length argument list.

I think the intention is to expect that good programmers not only write code that is very tricky and complex but also little descent.

SCJP exam has got nothing to do with Java code conventions.
In fact the exam questions will not stick to code conventions [spaces] because to of universal testing tool should work on all kinds of OS's and resolution.
thanks

There are few things that you need to know about the JavaBeans naming standards:-

Yes, you do have to know about the conventions for Java Beans, but that is something different than the document that Adithi refers to (Code Conventions for the Java Programming Language). You do not need to know that document to do SCJP.

True, you may not need to know it for the test..... but....

you are going to be writing code to train for the test. It is a simple enough document, it takes about 10 minutes to read through and it will set a good foundation for writing "read-able, maintainable" code. I would advise studying and using it early on to set the pattern in your mind now.
