Are static variables inherited?

Hi all,

Please explain me the following code.

  
 
class Uber {
  static int y = 2;
  Uber(int x) { this(); y = y * 2; }
  Uber() { y++; }
}
class Minor extends Uber {
  Minor() { super(y); y = y + 3; }
  public static void main(String [] args) {
    new Minor();
    System.out.println(y);
} }
 

How Minor class constructor uses super class static variable y in its constructor.

When you do new Minor(), Flow will be like this
1. static variable(of Uber) will get initilized
2. constructor of class Uber
3. and at end Minor class constructor

and Minor extends uber ,so Minor will have access to all the variables (except private) of its super class

I think saying that Subclass gets all variables and method except private ones, in inheritance from Superclass.
