Hi,

I am a Java developer for 5 years and I just started preparing for SCJP for java 5.
I am not comfortable with the new things I don't need in everyday job,
and I want certification to force me to go over those thing. I hope Kathy's book and several mock exams will be enough.

I am planning to take exam in about two months, so I was wondering if Java 6 certification is in preparation and should I wait for it?

Thank you,
Katherine

None of us have heard anything about an SCJP 6 exam - it wouldn't totally surprise me if they didn't put one out as they're working on revamping other exams. (There wasn't an SCJP for 1.3 either.)

I think there are some worthwhile things in Java SE 6 that could potentially be tested on... but offhand, I think one question is also how many companies are still on Java SE 5.0. So, for the moment, I'd assume you're safe working on the exam for 5.

Thank you so much for the promt response Theodore.
This is good motivation to study hard.

If you send is by car it's a shipment, but if by ship it's cargo. This tiny ad told me:
