Hello, I'm currently working as a java programmer here in the philippines, scjp (scored 98%), and I'm top java guy in our company. I have only a year exp in java but knows ejb, servlet, jsp, jdbc, xml, uml etc. and now, my company wants to send me to US for our sister company in New Jersey. They're offering me 50k to 60k salary. What I want to ask you guy is how much is the average salary for a guy like me? Is this reasonable? cause I don't have any idea if this is a below or above average salary.
By the way, does any one know how long it takes to get a green card?

50k to 60k for 1 year of experience is not that unreasonable, but with the knowledge that you listed and in a market like NJ, I think that is a little low. I am in Philly, and Servlets, JSP, JDBC, XML, etc... could probably get you a bit more. Do you also know database technology, design, SQL, Oracle, etc... If you have that knowledege also, you definatly could get more. North East (well at least Philly) is a hot market right now. When I looked for my last job (5 months ago) I was flooded with calls and interviews. Email me at bill_bozeman@hotmail.com and I will give more detail. Don't want to post it here as my co-workers may go to this site and I don't want to reveal my salary up here.

!?50k to 60k salary!? for the US North East with that experience!?

That's slave labor. You shouldn't accept anything less than $75K for just considering it. That's what a US citizen would get there (minimum) with same experience and Certification score (in your case the experience is more important anyway...)

I'm not dead! I feel happy! I'd like to go for a walk! I'll even read a tiny ad:
