I finally got a break from my job hunting, as last week I landed a job in Ariba, which is one of the hottest B2B e-commerce companies in the US at the moment

. The salary is above average (for a guy with no experience) with excellent stock options too. I had another great offer from a California start-up with a ridiculous amount of money. I had a hard time in making my decision

Actually I got about 12-13 job offers in my 5 weeks of job hunt (every company that I interviewed with offered me a job). I had a 98% in my Sun certification, which I'm sure played a very big part. I don't have any professional experience (I'm just out of grad school), and neither do I have a CS degree. But ofcourse only
SCJP will not land anyone a job. You need to have good knowledge of the advanced stuff like
Servlets,
JSP and XML. Also I did about 4 projects in
Java utilizing Servlets, Swing, XML and
JDBC. From my job hunt experience, I figured that projects (even academic ones) are the most important in landing a job. Plus you need to have a thorough understanding of OO concepts. Knowledge of design
patterns is a big plus too (pick up Erich Gamma for it). You have to be really impressive in the interviews...once you do that, most employers really don't care about experience. All they wanna see is the potential.
I'm really excited about starting my first job, and getting to work with the latest cutting-edge technologies!
