Hi Ajay !!!
Welcome to JavaRanch.

Give a look to:JavaRanch SCJP's FAQ

You need to take the SCJP before going to SCJD: Java Certification

After "Head Fist Java" you will need another book for the certification.
K&B Book from the same authors is considered as one of the bests.

I think it's would be interesting to go for SCJP 5.0

Hi Ajay,

I read the Head First book and am in the middle of the K&B Study Guide. I find the Study Guide to cover a lot more fundamental details than the Head First book. The Study Guide also has mock test questions to help gauge your progress. It also has a cd with more info, including the Master Exam.

The only bad thing was I ordered them online and it took over a month to get here.

Aloha,
Doug
