double to byte convertion

Are you having peoblems with the output of -64?

Its a rollover thing..byte rages between -128 and +127 inclusive.

Have you played with the numbers used? Try these:
456831
456832

They should illustrate what I mean.

The number 456896 looks like this in binary: 1101111100011000000

By casting it to a byte, you throw away everything but the lower 8 bits: 11000000
The value 11000000 is -64.
