hi guys,
I recently got laid off at nortel(i was there for only 2 months). I am searching for jobs for last 2 months but i didn't
get any. I have Master's degree in computer science, and i
worked with verizon for close to 2 years and then nortel
for close to 2 months.
My problem is i am not having good experience, when i started
my intern with verizon, it was on ASP, then i got full time
job in verizon, it was web development with perl(30%) and php3(70%),i didn't like that job, i changed to nortel, unfortunately got caught up in their big layoff. I am not interested in web development jobs, i want to work in the
area of C++/java/unix, i am having concepts of C++/java,
but no real world or practical experience, i don't know
how to acquire that experience without jobs, to get job i need
that experience, when i am having interviews, i can answer to
theory questions, but when it comes to practical questions in
C++/java, i don't do it that good,
i am very hardworking guy, and willing to learn, but not getting
an opportuniity to learn,
morever i am tense, bcs i am on h1b visa, i don't know what;s
going to happen to my status, what going to happen to my life,
but i am willing to work hard, learn skills, don't know exactly
how to proceed,
can someone guide me or give me some advise, i will be really
grateful to them
thanks
