Is the book written in a way that assumes the reader knows
Java
already? Or does it assume little to no java knowledge? I'm curious as to how much "This is the java way, now here is the groovy way" fluff it might have.
Thanks.

The book is for readers that have a basic understanding of Java, which covers a few million developers on this planet ;-)
It is
not
an introduction to programming for non-programmers.
And - to be honest - the better your Java the more valuable the book is.
