To all who those SCJP 5 passers,

Kindly please, post your ultimate steps/plan on how to pass the SCJP 5.
Me and my friends are currently preparing to take the exam on January 30.

Please help us, our current job as Java Trainee depends on passing the exam.
Thank you very much.

Hi Raj ,
One sure way of doing well in the exam is "Buy Kathy & Bert,s Book on SCJP and STUDY !!! "
That book is all you need to not only pass the exam but excel in it...
and one more thing write as much JAVA code as possible , its very important that you are comfortable with the language syntax particularly in topics like Threads and Collections cause those are some of the more difficult topics....
and last piece of advice "drink only coffee till the exam ..." Just Kidding
All the Best

I agree that the best book may be "Kathy & Bert's" book, usually referred to in this JavaRanch SCJP forum as, "K & B":

Title: "SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 5 Study Guide (Exam 310-055) (Certification Press Study Guides) (Paperback)"
ISBN-10: 0072253606
ISBN-13: 978-0072253603

You can follow the following link to buy the book on Amazon.com or to view the reviews of Amazon.com customers.

K & B Book

There is another study guide available online by another SCJP 5.0 expert, Marcus Green. He calls his online study guide "Tiger Tamer" which is named after the code-name of Java version 5.0 which is called "Tiger". I have heard good things about "Tiger Tamer". I haven't read it myself, but I know that it has the advantage of being able to be downloaded immediately. With books from Amazon.com, you'd have to wait to get the book in the mail.

IMHO, Marcus Green has the best practice exams for the SCJP 5.0.

Whatever study materials and practice exams, make sure that they cover Java version 5.0 (also known as version 1.5).

I'm sorry Pranob, but the book is not legally available for download for free.

As the other posts suggested, the book is available from Amazon. I'm pretty sure it will be a worthwhile investment.

For my next trick, I'll need the help of a tiny ad ...
a bit of art, as a gift, that will fit in a stocking
