Well I have never had a CS related job in Canada but used to live there up to two months ago. It is really pretty much the same as in states. Java jobs are in metropolitan areas so I guess look at Toronto, Montreal, Vancuver and so. If you are experienced Java developer you should be ok but if You are looking for entry level job it is going to be really hard to get one. I graduated recently and the number of kids that are comming with CS degree is huge. You should try to put yourself somehow above the others. I think SCJP alone will not do it.

thanks bro. Well have they stopped advertising entry level jobs or the number is low? You are right a CS background does pay.

Hi there!
I live in Toronto and do contract work in IT. I'm working towards my SCJP at this time. You won't see much in the way of entry level java jobs being advertised (check workopolis) but all the HR people I meet are always looking for fresh meat. The positions aren't advertised because they get enough apps directly. Most (90% ish) positions you see advertised are from headhunters anyway, hence no junior positions as the companys won't pay the recruiting fees. Find out which companies are good, focus on a handful that you think are ideal and hammer away with resumes and cover letters until they let you in to say hi.
