Hi there,

Is there a place to register in Javaranch which could trigger an e-mail notification to all it's registered members incase of any beta exam is available from SUN?

If it is not already avaialable, would appreciate if this suggestion is considered for the benefit of Javaranch registered members.

Thanks!

Personally, I think the current system - someone posts that a beta is open for registration or upcoming - in the appropriate topic forum works well enough without setting up some kind of mail-list. Just my thought on it.

Not currently. Someone would have to set up a new email list and people would have to register to receive such emails since I'm sure that all registered members would not be interested in this type of mail.

If you manage to set up the mailing list would you please put me on it!

I think it would be a good idea and I don't agree that simply using a forum is good enough for a timely topic. Unless you follow that particular forum daily, you would miss the notice.

Just my thoughts.

The list already exists. To sign up for Sun's training newsletter that keeps you informed about Sun's "latest training offers, discounts, certifications, as well as our last minute course deals" go the Sun training newsletter signup page, click the checkbox for Sun Training e-Newsletters, and continue from there.

The above link provided is to get update on offers/discounts for the trainings provided by SUN. It might not tell us about the release/availability of Beta exams!

It seems that nobody on the volunteer staff here at JavaRanch is willing to take on the responsibility of setting up such a mailing list, trying to keep up with the Sun Beta offerings, and subsequently sending out notices to those who might have signed up on such a mailing list.

To me it seems more logical to contact Sun about possible notifications of Sun exams.

Hi guys!

Since nobody took up the challenge... I thought of building one for the benefit of my fellow Ranchers.

It took me several years to really come up with the site. It's called http://javacertification.info.

I'm a fan of beta certification myself and was fortunate to take and pass two of them SCJA and SCEA 5 Part 1 (didn't have the time to finish parts 2/3 of the beta).

Please checkout the site for beta exam news. You can even subscribe to the RSS if you like to make sure you're up to date.

The posts normally point back here to the Ranch for further discussions.

Hope you find it useful.

I think in this case, it's alright to wake the zombie. Anyway, I didn't get enough interest on the site so I had to shut it down for a while.

I'll try to get it back up in the next few days.
