It's exactly 1 1/2 months till the end (June 30) of the free retake promo.

If you plan to take any of the 310 exams, NOW is probably a good time to do it.

Might be worth noting that:

This offer is valid in all countries where Sun certification is sold, except Brazil and India. For certification candidates in Japan, this offer begins on May 1, 2008.

Not valid for India? I took the exam and could not clear it. Why not for India?

Hi sudipto,

I also think this promo should be available to everyone. I also have no idea why it is currently setup this way.

But just to confirm, make sure to contact your local Sun/Prometric provider.

BTW, I have no affiliations with Sun or Prometric, I just wanted to spread the good news to the other Ranchers.

HTH.

By retaking the exam I hope you are saying I don't have to pay for the exam for which I have paid already

That is correct:

Purchase a Sun certification exam by April 30, and should you need it, you can retake the exam one additional time for free.

Then I think it is not applicable for me as I bought the sun voucher last September,2008!
Or is it?

Those who purchase a certification exam voucher using the priority code (WW39CX1) by April 30, 2009, and who do not pass the exam, qualify for the free retake.

You must use Priority Code WW39CX1 when you place your order

Once you place an order without entering that code, you cannot retake it anymore (I have called Sun training center and verified). But its ok, everything happens for good.

Hi guys!

First of all, hello to everyone ! since this is my first post .

I have planned to take the SCJP exam by July-August this year. But I am not sure about something: Could I buy the voucher to take the exam with the free retake promo and wait around these dates?.
Do you know how long is the validity of the exam's vouchers once you buy them?.

Cheers

I answer myself, just reading the FAQ section at Sun web page :

How can I have my exam voucher extended past the expiration date?
When exam vouchers are purchased you have up to one year from the date of purchase to use it. Each voucher is valid for one exam and may only be used at an Authorized Prometric Testing Center in the country for which it was purchased. Exam expiration dates cannot be extended. You must register and take your exam prior to the expiration date of your voucher. Neither Prometric, Authorized Prometric Testing Centers, nor Sun Microsystems are responsible for vouchers that are not redeemed by the expiration date.

Cheers

The sun site says you can book until june 19 and get the offer: http://uk.sun.com/training/savings/retake.xml
yet when I try to book it, the prometric site says the code is invalid.

Does anyone know what the current status of this code is?

There's an example slot available tomorrow that I would like to take!

You have to buy the voucher with this code in the sun page. After that when you get the voucher code you can introduce it in the prometric page and it's supposed that with the same voucher code you have another chance in case you fail.

Thanks Victor,

I've just booked my exam for tomorrow morning! I haven't read the book yet, but I've got the rest of the day to cram...

I'll let you know how I get on!

After an evening cramming I passed with 70%.

I'm happy with that

Hi

I took the Voucher using the Promo Code WW39CX1.

I also scheduled an appointment in a Pro metric Testing Center..

But to confirm regarding the Retake, I called Pro metric. But Pro metric verified my voucher code and said that I am not eligible for a retake.

I also mailed Sun, but so far no response even after 36 hours.

does anyone know whether there is any phone contact No for Sun Certifications, because i could not get one from their site.

Thanks.
Valli

Hi All!

How much is the fee for a voucher with promotion code before June 19, 2009? Is it $200 or $ 300? Please clarify.

Thanks.

Hi Billy

I dont know if at all its extended or not, but i copied over the promotion code from here and it got accepted.

So, I am guessing and hoping that i get a chance for retake.

Thank you

@Vamshi: When did you try using the code?

@Billy: Last time I checked this promo was extended till June 19 of this year.

But when I checked Sun's official page for this just now, the link was no longer accessible. Maybe they removed that page after the 19th?
