If anyone is familiar with Canada and Toronto in particular, i would like to know how hot are JAVA jobs in that locality. I am planning to move there early next year. Thanks.

Hey Patricia,
Toronto has many jobs to offer with Java, but I think the problem is that everyone is going towards that area because of the number of companies. You might have many jobs but also many people applying, and competition.
I am in calgary, and things are good here. Oil and gas are hiring many people. As long as you know oracle!. Thats all they know out here.
TO will keep growing so, its a good place to try for sure. My friend is out there and he is getting interviews, and calls but so far not lucky enough to land anything. But I am sure ever case is different. If you can sell yourself your in good shape..
If you ot anymore questions ask away
Cheers

Thanks for the info Faisal.
I have not been to Calagary either; but it sounds like a nice cool place.

There are quite a few Java jobs available in the Toronto Area, but it's the same old story...you have to have at least 1 or 2 years experience before they will even look at you. I am fresh out of school with no "professional" experience, so I am finding it difficult.
Good luck!

Patricia,
Calgary is just booming, Its a great city, and I love it here.
I would recommend that anyone visit Calgary. Stampede is on right now, so its really busy.
where do you currently live and work at Patricia? Did you just graduate?

You can just post it in this fourm or just make a new thread if you like. I am not to keen on giving out my email address as I got many emails asking for JQ+ and what not..and I didnt like that.
I can email you if you like...Better to just discuss it in this forum, if it isnt to private of a discussion.
Cheers

To Faisal
I am from the East coast. I have had one year experience in Java. I also do programming in C. I am currently considering a job offer from a very good IT company -- but they have a one year lock-up.

One year lock-up? Does that mean they offered you a job, but you can't start for one year? Nah.. that can't be it. (?)
