Hi, there:
I'm going to work on SNMP project both manager and agent stuff by using java. I heard sun has JDMK I can use, and other third-party company like AdventNet has some good stuff for SNMP developer. My question is that: 1. does JDMK can be used for both SNMP manager and agent? 2. JDMK and AdventNet API, which one is better from your experience?
Any information is highly appreciated
David

Both are written in Java. I think Adventnet API is built on Sun's low level API. But AdventNet provides us with high level API. I suggest to work with AdventNet's.

Hi Mohd

Is there a way we can get list of classes which are part of AdventNet but not provided in JDMK or OpenDMK.
Or a list of classes which mention mapping between the two, that 'X' class of AdventNet has functionality same as 'Y' class of JDMK.
I have googled a lot but couldn't get anything.

I am particularly interested in these classes of AdventNet

import com.adventnet.snmp.snmp2.SnmpException;
import com.adventnet.snmp.beans.DataException;
import com.adventnet.snmp.beans.SnmpTarget;
import com.adventnet.snmp.mibs.LeafSyntax;
import com.adventnet.snmp.mibs.MibModule;
import com.adventnet.snmp.mibs.MibNode;
import com.adventnet.snmp.mibs.MibOperations;
import com.adventnet.snmp.mibs.MibException;
import com.adventnet.snmp.snmp2.SnmpPDU;
import com.adventnet.snmp.snmp2.SnmpVarBind;
import com.adventnet.snmp.snmp2.SnmpOID;
import com.adventnet.snmp.beans.SnmpTrapReceiver;
import com.adventnet.snmp.beans.TrapEvent;
import com.adventnet.snmp.beans.TrapListener;
import com.adventnet.snmp.snmp2.SnmpCounter;
import com.adventnet.snmp.snmp2.SnmpCounter64;
import com.adventnet.snmp.snmp2.SnmpVar;
import com.adventnet.snmp.snmp2.UDPProtocolOptions;
import com.adventnet.snmp.beans.ErrorMessages;

Cheers
