I learnt java from a sun certified centre(COURSE NAME : Java Programming Language,SL 275).But i have no experience working in the java platform. My queries are:

(1) Is it advisable to take up the SCJP exams, without any work experience?
(2) If yes,how do i go about preparing for the exam?

Thanking you in advance

I don't think you need work work experience
but do lots of practice with small program.

Thanks,

Welcome to JavaRanch. See the SCJP FAQ for a lot of useful information on preparing for the SCJP exam.

It's not required that you have practical experience in working with Java, but it certainly helps if you do.

Howdy Priyanka! Welcome to javaranch.

1) SCJP will increase your chances of getting a job, so work experience is not required in any way to give SCJP.

2) you can use SCJP book by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates. It is a good book. Just go for the latest version(6.0) and give the book a reading. then you can go for some mock exams which will help you in the exam. If you are new to java though, then go for java basics before going for SCJP...
