Hi,

I've been practicing questions and reading the Sun Certified Programmer for Java 6 - Study Guide book.
Is the exam as hard as the questions in the book? (and practice exams that come with it?)

I've tried the whizlabs questions and can get a pass mark fairly easily but I can find the questions in the study guide difficult sometimes.

Hi David, welcome to Javaranch

Actually david the real exam is easier than the questions in the book or whizlabs mock exam....

Ok thanks. Its helpful to people's view because I'd like to attempt the exam but I try the questions in the book and think, gee maybe I'm not ready.

I can do the whizlab exams and get near 80%. (some of the wrong ones are just silly errors.) But then I think hey maybe I could attempt the exam.

here's how I rate it, k&b being the hardest.

SCJP < Whilabs < K&B master exam

The SCJP exam is damn hard imho - https://coderanch.com/t/417624/java-programmer-SCJP/certification/ready

However, if you can score 80% in wizlabs, I guess you will score
90-100 % in the real exam!

Hey David,
I completely agree with all who have posted above. The main exam is not as difficult as the book. I found it to be very close to the toughness level of the whizlab simulator. I used to score around 80% in all the exams that came with the simulator and thats how much I scored in the main exam too.

So, just relax and go for it.

Thanks. That is helpful. I guess I'm on track and think I will give it a go very soon.
