Is it possible for an applet to open an HttpURLConnection to a server that is not registered with DNS or any other naming host?
Please help. I have some probblem with opening a connection

The server's IP address needs to be registered somewhere. If it's name isn't in the DNS entry, you can add an entry to the hosts file on your computer. For Win NT it's under
c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc
For win95, I believe it's under(But, you may have to search for it.)
c:\windows
On unix or linux, it's under
/etc
A typical line entry looks like
68.255.11.11 snoopy snoopy.peanuts.com
With this entry in your hosts file, HttpURLConnection will locate the server.
