What is Pluggable Architecture Model and its design methodology?
posted 14 years ago
My requirement is to provide different installations for a particular application. Consider that my application has the features A, B, and C. I would now like to provide three installations to my application: A, A+B, and A+B+C. This requirement came late, late to the extent that the application has already been developed. Also the modules A and B are coupled. How to provide the “split install”? We have come across many applications that provide plug-ins. Addition of a plug-in results in the addition of a new feature. And I recently came across the term “Pluggable Architecture Model” (PAM). What is it? Is it a solution to my problem at hand? If yes, kindly provide links and other info regarding PAM and its design methodology. I’m unable to find any material / info regarding PAM.
