Is there anyone here at the Ranch that knows very much about JFreeReport. I actually purchased the Documentation from them and all it is is the API pretty much. It is horrible. I want my money back anyway....
If anyone can show me just a simple simple simple example of how to use the API, I would appreciate it. I don't even know where to begin. I Am going to try some code right now, and when I get something done, I will post it and maybe get some help from there.
Thanks

Hi Gregg,
If you are not happy with the documentation, I can process a refund for you...just e-mail me your order number.
Chapter 3 of the documentation ("Creating Your First Report") walks the reader through a relatively simple example of using JFreeReport. If you found it too complex, e-mail me and tell me what you found confusing and I will try to explain it more clearly.
For anyone who is interested in trying out JFreeReport or JFreeChart, the URL is:

Both products are free under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License. We sell documentation as one means of funding these projects.

Chapter 3 walks through the XML descriptions. Which is good. But where is the JAVA code excerts with descriptions of what is going on? You tell how to run the example, then talk about the XML tags and that's it. It's like, have fun browsing through the DEMO code and trying to figure it out.
Anyway, I don't really want a refund, but you could improve the documentation quite a bit. Having the API is handy and a good reference, but it also helps to know HOW to use the API.
What I would like to start with is a simple simple example. Something like, here is my table data and here is how to generate a report with that. I mean the most basic example possible. A Window with a Report in it based on some very simple data. Maybe it's there and I am just overlooking it?
When I think of a good beginners example, this is what I like to see.
Just my opinion.
