Since Java has great support for Threads my first question is - do you mean
1. multiple "simultaneous" processes on the same machine or
2. on multiple communicating machines?
If 1 - most any general book will have some coverage of Threads, there is also a great one published by O'Reilly (don't know which edition they are up to now.)
If 2 - you are now in a very hot area that I am very interested in - distributed computing, grid computing, JavaSpaces, etc. - and we should probably move to the distributed Java topic.
