Hi Guru,
I have a Java SmartCard apps, I run the apps on Windows Xp and read a card, I got this error message "opencard.core.terminal.CardTerminalException: Can't open Communication port". I configure the opencard.properties to use COM2 from where the card terminal is connected.
Any idea on how to solve this problem.
Thanks,
Eric

Assuming you have the COMM API installed, what happens when you run the "BlackBox" application that comes with it? Can you see the port then?
I just went round and round with a similar problem. It turns out I had my Palm desktop installed so that it always had ownership of COM1 !!- turning that option off freed up the port.

Hi Bill,
When I run the "BlackBox", I can see the port and the card acceptance device can be recognized that is connected to COM2. If there is still a program (like for instance Palm desktop) running using the same COM-port (or the program was not running anymore, but the program(or Windows?) did not release the COM-port), how can I turned off and freed up the port?

Thanks,
Eric
