Hello!
I need to write an application that user will use to work with a remote computer... This application will use port number 23.
When I try connecting to remote machine IP address I get an error that the client did not send valid configured tn3270 terminal type. What is this? what does the server want my application to send him? where can I find good tutorials to answer my question?
Thank you very much!

I've used a public (unsupported) package called Net-Components for some of my networking needs, primarily FTP. They also have classes that support most net protocols (FTP, NNTP, POP3, SMTP, Telnet, etc). I've found that the documentation is a little skimpy, but the sample code is pretty good and the classes seem to work just fine.
I gather that these have now been wrapped into the Jakarta/Commons Net project. In fact the source code for all of these class is now available and so you could download it and see exactly how they are doing it.
