So what is "the best" JMX book? Most seem to be old.

Also, what is the difference between "JMX 1.2 Specification" and "JMX Remote API 1.0 Specification"? They are both available at the same page: http://java.sun.com/products/JavaManagement/reference/docs/index.html When does one need one and/or the other?

This is a completely new area of Java for me and I may need to use it at work in the near future.

I don't know if it is the best, but I use the O'Reilly book.

It's pretty good, though a bit tedious.
