How to determine Data Format while we are getting Data from Excel Sheet

hi,

I am populating the data from the Excel sheet but I am not able to know which date format is there in Excel ..How to parse my date according to the date unless I know about its format.

I am using JXL package to read..
same case with TIMESTAMP

Any suggestions please

Still not a Servlet question. I'll move it to JDBC, but it will be moved again if this isn't the correct destination.

I have used that but it is not able to identify the date data sometimes if the format is diffrent.

by the by , even it recognize ,how can i know format of the date whether
dd/MM/yyyy or MM/dd/yyyy or any other
