I'm confused -- is this thread not giving you the information you need? If so, just ask more questions -- please don't repost the same questions in a different place.

If you don't want to use Eclipse, you can edit Jess code in any text editor, just as you would edit Java code. I used to use Emacs until the JessDE was developed.
