Hi Folks,
Does anyone know what the current status of AI field is? What languages do they use to implement AI algorithms? How long before AI will put all programmers out of business if ever?

It's been a while since I've worked with AI languages, but generally AI favors Scheme/LISP and Prolog. Although I'm sure AI work has been done in all sorts of languages. I recall Java has some agent libraries.
If I remember my timetables right, I think AI puts us out of business on May 12, 2010.

Well, Mark. I guess, I can get myself a job as a hog washer back south on that date, If I'm lucky.

Geez, Mark! We are running out of time ! I'll
probably have to move to writing... mmmm, on second thought, the Mayan Calendar predicts December 21, 2012 to be the final date of this world, so I might wanna take those last 2 years off.

Norvig and Russell will have a second edition of their text book coming out around November. Maybe that will get some new concepts of AI going in the class room. At my cs master program at BU the language used for this AI class is Java.
At my work, the AI agents for the project I'm working on are done in C++, and the front end is in Java.
