Hi everybody!!

When I send a message i use the factory method getDefaultInstance(props, aut) where aut is an instance of myautenticator, the class that implements Authenticator.
But, no matter what user or password i use with myautenticator the client can send messages throw my email sever.
The authenticator provided to the method getInstance() should'nt keep away the users that are'nt registered with the mail server or its use is significant only with store objects?

Any help apreciated
Regards,

Welcome to the JavaRanch, Marius.
I've only used Authenticator with HTTP but the way I understand it, the server asks the client for authentication and the protocol handler in the JVM uses the Authenticator instance to provide the credentials to the server. It does not do anything on the client side to prevent access if the server is not restricting access. It sounds like your server needs to be locked down.

Can this Authenticator be used to validate email addresses from all possible POP3 servers?

Rgds,

Seetesh

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
