Can anybody tell me, why to use Timestamp.

You mean java.sql.Timestamp? You'd use that to represent a column in your database that contains timestamp (date and time) data. If you're asking why that and not java.sql.Date or java.sql.Time, you'd use those to represent columns that have date (only) or time (only) data.
