What do people think is the best Model MBean auto-gen tool out there? the jmxdoclet from the xdoclet project?

The Sun Docs on Model MBeans do give an example on how to create one. The example is pretty straightforward. Should get you up to speed quickly -- assuming you have a basic knowledge of JMX.

[Soapbox, will probably get slammed for this]

IMHO, I don't see Model MBeans as being that useful. In the past, I have ported data resources to Standard MBeans, or wrote Standard MBeans that encapsulated a resource, faster, (and probably clearer), than creating the BeanInfo for a Model MBean. I just feel that using Model MBeans is more complicated than the task that it is trying to solve.

The only advantage that I can think of, is, since the Model MBean separates the model from the implementation, it is possible to auto-generate the mbean info... but then, this requires learning another tool, and / or a metadata format.
