How to store mails on local file system?

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
I want to write a very simple mail client which should fetch emails from a pop3 server. The mails should be stored on local file system (HSSQL?, BerkeleyDB?) and can viewed with a simple Viewer.

I didn't realy find good examples with goolge. Has anyone examples/howtos to store emails with a java db or must I start from the beginning? Every hint is welcome.

Thanks,
Jrgen

The Apache James mail server project has a lot of functions that may help you. I seem to recall there is a way you can get it to fetch mail and store it locally, but it is not a simple package.

The Sun page on the MAIL API should be helpful in developing your mail client.
