i am developin a mailin application using javamail... im new to java.. when im programin for sending a message using javamailAPI i need to specify the SMTP host as an argument in one of the functions........ im using my home PC.... in such a case what would be my host name.......

That would be either "localhost" or "127.0.0.1". JavaMail is just the client API, though - do you have a mail server running on your machine? If not, it's fairly easy to get Apache James (a Java email server) up and running.
