i was advised to use apache james for developin my email appln.... if i use apachejames then to test a mail i need to give a from and to addresses........... can i create one on my own or should i go with an existing one like email@example.com etc..........

The "To" address needs to be one that reaches your local server, so it should be something like xyz@localhost. The "From" address should be a valid one that you know you can check, although for development of an email client it doesn't matter much.
