hi,

does the standard java library have any way of knowing if a new window opens?

i am developing a non-java with gui program, now the java that i made will run depending on the window that opens. so i am in need of a libarary that can determine if the program opens a window. and hopefully will be able to get its title. i tried exploring the the System package but i didn't find anything useful.

thanks in advance.

Hello "phru phru"-

Welcome to JavaRanch.

On your way in you may have missed that we have a policy on screen names here at JavaRanch. Basically, it must consist of a first name, a space, and a last name, and not be obviously fictitious. Since yours does not conform with it, please take a moment to change it, which you can do right here.

As to your question, the Java libraries have no such method. You'd have to use JNI to call native methods of whatever platform you're on.

Ok, just done updating my profile.

Would you know how to do it using JNI?
