Hi,
I am developing a voip application. I need to compress the the voice which is being captured by the microphone. As of now, i'm capturing the voice and storing it into a byte array and sending via UDP. This is done using the javax.sound package.

Pls help me to get a code on voice compression

Thank you

This is the stuff of current research; I doubt that implementations are available in the open source realm. Have you tried general purpose algorithms like ZIP (although I'd guess that they wouldn't help much, due to the nature of the data)?. You could also try to filter the signal by applying a band pass that removes the highest and lowest frequencies. That has implications for the quality, though, and may take too long.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
