Hi,
I am using java mail API to send and receive messages using SMTP and POPs. I need to set a hidden value in the mail while sending it. For this, I am using the MimeMessage.setHeader(key, value) method and this works. But, now I need to retain this hidden value in the mail when the the receiver replies to that mail from his client mail program. I should be able to fetch the same value from the replied mail too when I do a getHeader(key) thus indicating that this is a reply to the mail I had sent. Is there a way I can do this in javamail API? Is there any way that a replied mail can retain the headers set in the mimemessage.

thanks in advance

Which headers get set during a reply is up the mail client - the original mail can't "force" any of those to be included. Some people would regard this feature as rather sneaky, bordering on the line of privacy intrusion (depending on what its intended purpose is). What are you trying to achieve?
