sponsorship for H-1

Hi guys,
Can anyone tell me whether companies are really willing to sponsor for H-1 visa now?
I graduated with a Masters in computer applications in 2000 and have 1.5 years of industrial experience(in India).I need a sponsorship for H-1 visa to work in US and so i find it really hard in getting a job.I am now preparing for SCJP exam(dont know how far it will help me in finding a job)
Can anyone give me suggestions what i shud do.Can i take some courses and hit the job market once it picks up or do i have any scope in this economy?

Its very difficult now for companies to sponser of H1B visa as they can find people with similar skills within 10 miles of radius of the company.
Definitely you have scope in this tough economy as you have basic education and 1.5 years of exp in this field.There are many companies currently hiring especially in Noida(HCL etc) and Bangalore(Wipro etc) and Mumbai(Accenture).If you have any contacts there , you can try(if you are willing to relocate) .Although they require somewhat more experience,atleast they will allow you to sit for their 'test' and all those things.Even if you straight 'walk-in' in any of the company,(generally)many companies allow people to take test(s).
Tests include your programming abilities,java skills, so one has to be always be in 'alert' state!

But i am on H4 visa in US looking for a sponsor.
My search is restricted to US jobs only
Any suggestions are welcome

Oh..no..
When are you people going to stop your US dreams and think practical?.
If you are determined, and have clear goal in life, you can do that from anywhere..not just being in the US and longing for H1.
If your goal is to make money ..do business.
If your goal is technology..do it in India..
do you have guts and knowledge?..join SUN,India and be the core developer of JDK. join Oracle, Bangalore..be the developer of Oracle engine..join IBM,Bangalore and be a WebSphere Architect..
Do not look at some fly-by-night petshops in the US and think of saving money by eating air and water only.
Sorry..for being very hot..and using strong words..
Be practical..Know yourself well.. define your goals and act accordiningly.

Thanks for your advise "Think practical and act accordingly" ..Yeah Thats what i am trying to do ..If i act according to you what you say,i have to leave my family here and go to india for doing some business.I dont think its worth it anyway !!

Hey,
Don't get upset. You are moving in the right direction. Certification is definitly going to help you. But in this market only that is not enough. You need to learn other skills like databases, web server etc. In computerjobs.com they have a category for visa sponsered jobs. Also try applying through different sources. You
have masters and experience which is a definite plus. Don't loose hope. Good luck.

For you it is wise to look for job near your family. Do more certifications, get practical experience, participate in open source projects,
write articles and then search on the net.

Vey few people regret in their life for being outside India. .If there were lot, you would not have seen them calling all their relatives to settle in US/Canada/UK.
Abdul Kalam is ofcourse a patriot, but in defence circles, he is popularly called as 'politician in DRDO(Defence Research Development Organization)'.
In DRDO itself, there are 100s of Kalams but only few get the opportunity.This is one of the reason for people dreaming to go outside.
Neither I am justifying act of going outside nor oppose the people going outside.Its their choice.
